Day 1 – Arrival to Hanoi

Meet your driver and transfer to the famed old Quarter of Hanoi to check into your hotel.

Overnight Hanoi – La Siesta Premium

Day 2 – Hanoi (b,l,d)

Start the day with an enjoyable hour-long rickshaw tour around the maze of The Old Quarter. Visit Hoa Lo Prison, dubbed “The Hanoi Hilton” by the US POWs who were imprisoned, including Senator John McCain. Continue the day with a visit to Van Mieu – the first University of Vietnam followed by lunch where you will try Bun Cha – a Hanoi specialty and a dish that President Obama famously shared with the late Anthony Bourdain.

The afternoon features a walk around the famed Hoan Kiem Lake to see the peaceful green waters, The Huc Bridge, Thap But (Pen Tower) and a visit Ngoc Son temple, Hanoi’s most visited temple. Enjoy a little break with some famous Northern egg coffee at Giang coffee house – the original coffee house that discovered this unusual but tasty pairing.

Hanoi After dark begins at our stylish local Café with a beer cocktail and a delicious snack from one of the nearby night time vendors, before jumping on the back of the vintage Vespas. After weaving through the magical, busy back streets of the Old Quarter, we soon arrive at a lively local restaurant serving Bun Cha. This is the quintessential must taste Hanoian dish of rice noodles, grilled pork, and meatballs, with a side of ‘nem’ spring rolls. Simple but delicious.

Through narrow streets again, we head towards our next foodie stop: a fascinating local joint to try infused rice wine and a buffalo jerky appetizer. Further into the Old Quarter while taking in the sites of the Hanoi Flag Tower and Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, ride towards the West Lake and Truc Bac area. Try the local specialty of ‘pho cuon’ and learn the art of wrap ‘n’ roll, Vietnamese style, with these fresh and fragrant ingredients, and the pho noodle! The final port of call is next to the colonial Opera House. The halcyon days of the 1930’s may be over, however, this Jazz Club will wow you with a truly unique blend of styles – 30’s style Jazz & traditional Vietnamese music to end the evening.

Overnight Hanoi – La Siesta Premium

Day 3 – Hanoi – Ninh Binh (b,l,d)

Morning, guide and driver pick you up at your hotel then transfer in a private coach about 100 km South of Hanoi. The driving time is approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes to Hoa Lu District, Ninh Binh Province.

Visit Trang An tourist attraction has over 310 species of higher plants, many algae and fungi. In particular, there have some rare woods and amount of valuable trees using for food, medicine. In addition, there has about 30 species of mammals, 50 species of birds, dozens of species of reptiles and some rare animals such as: chamois, leopard, phoenix.

Sit on a small sampan to visit cave complex: Sang Cave, Toi Cave, Ba Giot Cave, Nau Ruou in mystery and wildness, see scenery of mountain and rivers Ha Long on land of Ninh Binh. Lunch with special food of Ninh Binh, dishes from goat’ meat. In the afternoon, continue to visit MUA Cave, pass 486 steps to the top, in here, you can enjoy a stunning panoramic view of the countryside.

Overnight NinhBinh – Emeralda Ninh Binh

Day 4 – Ninh Binh – Pu luong (b,l,d)

After breakfast, travel 140kms to Pu Luong. Starting the afternoon trip following the small road through the terrace rice and sugar cane fields, cross the Hanging Bridges to visit other remote rural villages of Thai Ethnic. Stop at the giant waterwheels, ducks farm to learn about the agriculture before getting on the Bamboo Raft for a relaxing cruise on Cham stream (cruise depending on weather conditions).  Back to the hotel  to relax.

19:00: Your  Dinner is served, enjoy some local rice wine. Have a quiet night in the middle of the Reserve.

Overnight Pu Luong – Pu Luong Eco Garden 

Day 5 – Pu Luong to Mai CHAU (b,l,d)

Wake up at dawn with fresh pure air and enjoy breakfast (0630 start). We start easy trekking following the small roads through the terrace rice fields and cross the stream to visit remote rural villages of Black Thai Minorities to learn about the local people in Pu Luong. Explore Doi Cave (Bat cave) of Kho Muong village, this is the largest cave in Pu Luong. (Depending on the weather condition). On the way, you will meet local people showing their welcome by smiling to you. Come back the hotel  and enjoy the rest of the morning at your own leisure. Having lunch before boarding the car back to Mai Châu.

Arrival Mai Chau, 16:00 – 17:00 : Bicycle ride with local tour guide, see farmers working in fields, locals weaving scarves and visit surrounding peaceful villages.15:00 – 18:00 : Free time for bicycling, walking, shopping

19:00 : Enjoy the outdoor BBQ party in the garden and watch the Thai’s traditional dance and drink the traditional wine “ruou can” Overnight in the rural village.

Day 6 – Mai Chau – Day at LEISURE (b)

The day is yours to relax and unwind in the charming village setting.

Day 7 – Mai Chau – Nghia LO (b,l,d)

Morning breakfast and free at your leisure time to relax at hotel. Our guide and driver pick you up at hotel in Mai chau and drive you to Nghia Lo district of Yen Bai province. En route is the chance for you to see and admire beautiful scenery of  Vietnam mountains. Have a lunch in local restaurant in Nghia Lo, then keep on driving up to Mu Cang Chai.

This afternoon you will have chance to stop-over in Tu Le for visiting and admire of the imposing landscape of mountains and valleys and the beautiful rice terrace filed of this area – Tu Le, Van Ban district of Yen Bai province.

Day 8 – Nghia Lo – Mu Cang cHAI (b,l,d)

Enjoy a leisure breakfast while breathing in the fresh, mountainous air. You will leave Nghia Lo to visit Suoi Giang Eco-Park – a part of Hong Lien Son national park, and the home of the ancient green tea. You will walk around to learn some interesting facts about the Vietnamese specialty green tea and take some photographs in the tea garden. Next up is the visit to Hoc village, featuring the natural hot springs. You can enjoy a hot spring bath here. Today’s lunch will be served at a local restaurant.

Then continue to Mu Cang Chai, to see the amazing terrace rice fields and the local life. Have dinner and stay overnight

Day 9 – Mu Cang Chai – Bac ha (b,l,d)

This morning, our guide will take you to visit and take some beautiful photos at Che Cu Nha Rice Terrace Field of the Hmong people. You will then visit Che Xu Phinh, La Phan Tan, recognized as a national landscape of Vietnam in 2007, featuring the famous, beautiful terraced rice fields in Mu Cang Chai District.

You will then continue on to Bac Ha. After your days touring a dinner at a local restaurant.

Overnight Bac Ha – Cho family homestay

Day 10 – Bac Ha – SAPA (b,l)

This morning, enjoy a walk through the most colorful market in northern Vietnam, Bac Ha. At the market, you have a chance to enjoy Bac Ha people’s simple but unique kinds of food with special wines made from rice, cassava, corn, and a variety of fruits such as plums, apples, peaches… You can talk to the locals with the guide’s interpretation. Leave the market for the H’mong King’s house (King Hoang A Tuong), built by the French colonists and the Chinese in 1920. Return to the town for lunch.

In the afternoon, say good bye to Bac Ha and drive to Trung Do village where the Tay ethnic minority people live. You will have a chance to do another hour-long walk to enjoy the landscape and get to know the locals’ lives here. You will then enjoy a 1-hour boat cruise along the waters of the beautiful Chay river. After disembarking, our driver will take you to the town of Sapa for a dinner and overnight stay.

Day 11 – sAPA (b,l)

Our Red Zao tour guide will pick you up from your hotel and start a trekking tour through the mountainous northern countryside, filled with ethnic minority homesteads of the Black and Flower H’Mong, as well as the Red Zao tribe.

On the way you will see the famous rice terraces and terraced gardens where fresh, organic vegetables are grown. Here you can take a peek at the everyday lives of the locals. Our guide will tell you about their traditions, weddings, funerals, beliefs and the surrounding nature and its influence on the ethnic peoples’ lives.

At noon lunch will be served at a local family-owned restaurant, featuring the homemade H’Mong and Red Zao dishes.

You will then continue the trek to our guides homestay at the Red Zao village of Ta Phin. Here, after a brief rest you will relax during a Red Zao herbal bath. Not only does it ease the weariness of your body; it also allows you to deeply relax your mind and spend some quality, peaceful time.

After the bath you can either take a walk around the village to see what an authentic, northern Vietnamese village looks like, or you can simply hang out around the homestay either taking a nap or helping the host with the preparation of the dinner.

During the dinner you will have an opportunity to share some stories with the host’s family, as a Red Zao meal prepared for guests is always a feast.

Our driver will then take you back to Sapa for the overnight stay.

Day 12 – Sapa – hANOI (b)

In the morning you can walk around the town of Sapa, enjoying the free time at your leisure before your afternoon transfer back to Hanoi.

Our tour will end upon the arrival at your hotel in Hanoi.

Day 13 – Hanoi DEPARTURE (b)

Free time to explore Hanoi at your own leisure before a transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
